  Info of particular interest to NOCFT.com Reporting to a Law Enforcement Officer, in TIME

This summer a man was arrested, threatened with execution while handcuffed in the back of a cruiser, and then forced to deal with the real life tragedy of having to go through a criminal trial for something he shouldn't have been charged with in the first place. William Bartlett spent the next four months of his life having a prosecutor dangle sweetheart deals in front of him that always came with a catch: Plea to this and we'll drop the more serious charges. Sign a waiver that releases the city from any culpability or legal liability and we'll make this go away.

  Info of particular interest to NOCFT.com Senate Bill 305

Ohioan's For Concealed Carry Published on Tuesday, 27 March 2012 15:13 Written by Jeff Garvas and Philip Mulivor From time to time, the good citizens of Ohio are confronted by proposed legislation that is so farfetched in its premise, ill-conceived in its language, overreaching in its provisions, and abusive of principles in our state and federal constitutions, that it must be immediately and completely opposed. We face this challenge today with Ohio Senate Bill 305, which would criminalize hidden compartments in vehicles. Just four weeks ago, we published an article called Hidden Compartment Bill Raises Red Flags, in which we questioned the proposal's impact on law-abiding citizens. Under the provisions of this bill, Ohioans driving a vehicle with an added compartment, box, or container can quickly be charged with a felony. Instead of receiving a simple traffic ticket after missing a stop sign or forgetting to signal a turn, a driver with an extra storage device on board could be led away in handcuffs and incarcerated. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers, RVs, and motor homes are all targeted by the bill. Consider the alarming overreach of the bill's language: Hidden compartment means a "container, space, or enclosure that conceals, hides, or otherwise prevents the discovery of the contents of the container, space, or enclosure." Hidden compartment includes "any compartment, space, box, or other closed container that is added or attached to existing compartments, spaces, boxes, or closed containers integrated or attached to a vehicle" This misguided attempt to control drug smuggling, sponsored by State Sen. Jim Hughes and endorsed by Gov. John Kasich, makes potential felons of thousands of law-abiding Ohioans, including: • Workers transporting tools and equipment in locked boxes and secure compartments in their trucks • Hunters and other firearm owners who have carefully secured guns in their cars to ensure safe transport and prevent theft • Jewelers, collectors, and other citizens who may have installed secure boxes or compartments to transport items of value • Campers, hikers, boaters, and other outdoorsmen who rely on auxiliary storage devices to transport recreational equipment and supplies SB 305 easily makes criminals of all these people—and thousands of others. Even lunch boxes, briefcases and luggage could trigger searches and arrests under the bill. That's because it currently defines the compartment as the crime, not the presence of a controlled substance. A simple locking cover that turns a receiver hitch into a hidden safe becomes illegal under this proposed legislation. Unfortunately, the architects of SB 305 didn't bother to learn from the recent (and costly) mistakes of other states. In 2008, the Illinois Supreme Court struck down a state law almost identical to SB 305. The court annulled the law because citizens could be convicted regardless of how a "hidden compartment" was actually used. (People v. Carpenter, 888 N.E.2d 105, Sup. Ct., Ill., 2008).

  Info of particular interest to NOCFT.com Is Carring a Weapon Scriptual??????????

Is Carrying a Concealed Weapon Biblical? Shouldn’t we trust God to protect us?  NOCFT's answer to that question is: Yes, we should.  Prayer to keep us safe should be our first line of defense.  However, God also gave us the ability to think and reason.  Recognizing that we live in a dangerous world, we should take appropriate steps to protect ourselves.  The apostles did so.  At the Last Supper, it is interesting to note that at least two of the apostles were carrying swords (Luke 22:38).  You might say they were CCW advocates. Swords were the main weapon of Jesus time.   Jesus apparently allowed them to be carried for self defense.  Then, just as now, there was a criminal element intent on harming people.  Jesus never told the apostles not to pack weapons.  (Click on "Read More..." below to read the rest of this article."

Legislation to protect traditional ammunition introduced in U.S. House and Senate

Submitted by cbaus on Thu, 04/28/2011 - 15:00.

* National Politics
* Gun Rights Groups

Following continued attacks by anti-hunting groups to ban traditional ammunition (ammunition containing lead-core components) under the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976, Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and John Thune (R-S.D.) and Reps. Jeff Miller (R-Fla.) and Mike Ross (D-Ark.), all co-chairmen of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, introduced bipartisan legislation (S. 838 and H.R. 1558) to clarify the longstanding exemption of ammunition and ammunition components under the act.

The Hunting, Fishing and Recreational Shooting Sports Protection Act is being championed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. The act also calls for lead fishing tackle, similarly under attack from anti-hunting groups, to be exempt from the TSCA.

"We applaud and thank Sen. Tester and Sen. Thune, and Rep. Miller and Rep. Ross, for introducing this commonsense measure," said NSSF President Steve Sanetti. "This bill will continue to ensure that America's hunters and shooters can choose for themselves the best ammunition to use, instead of unnecessarily mandating the universal use of expensive alternatives."
